Home Heating Assistance STILL Available
Des Moines, Iowa – State Representative Tyler Olson of Cedar Rapids said today assistance is still available for Iowans who need help with home heating costs through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP.
“While the winter season is nearing an end, families who are struggling to make ends meet or have fallen behind on their heating bills can still get assistance. Iowans shouldn’t have to choose between food and prescription drugs and keeping their home warm,” said Olson.
LIHEAP assistance is based on annual income and families of all sizes may apply. For example, a family of four with an annual income of $33,075 or less is eligible for assistance and single Iowans with an annual gross income of $16,245 or less are also eligible.
For an application or more information on the income guidelines, contact the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) at (319) 366-7632 or toll free at (866) 469-2211. HACAP is located at 1328 2nd Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids and is open from 8AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday.
