OLSON OFFERS PLAN TO SAVE PRESCHOOL &
CUT TAXES FOR ALL IOWANS

Des Moines, Iowa – State Representative Tyler Olson of Cedar Rapids today sponsored a targeted tax cut plan to help middle class families while saving preschool for 20,000 Iowa kids.

“I offered a plan to keep 20,000 Iowa kids in preschool while providing a tax cut to help middle class families,” said Olson.  “With a $900 million surplus, the state can afford and should continue to provide preschool for Iowa four year olds.  It’s a wise investment for our state and will help our kids compete for jobs in today’s global economy.”

The plan offered by Rep. Olson provides a tax cut for every Iowan while ensuring $70 million is available to continue Iowa’s statewide preschool initiative.  The plan was offered during debate on House File 194 but was turned back on a party line vote.
