Branstad: I'm Willing to Limit the Governor's Ability to Move Money Around Desmoinesregister.com January 25, 2011 By: Jennifer Jacobs *** Last week state Rep. Tyler Olson, D-Cedar Rapids, proposed reining in the governor's control over the purse strings. He offered the idea as an amendment to the Taxpayers First Act, an omnibus Republican-proposed bill that increases and decreases spending in various areas of this year's budget. Olson withdrew the amendment after state Rep. Scott Raecker, R-Urbandale, promised that House Republicans would not move forward on a two-year budget without Branstad's signature on a bill that restricts transfer authority. *** Click here for the full story. |
