Disaster Recovery Bills Clear House

By passing SF 457 97-0 the Legislature is “really sending a message that we are encouraging revitalization of the areas hard hit by last years’ disasters,” floor manager Rep. Tyler Olson, D-Cedar Rapids, said.

The Iowa House approved SF 457 yesterday.  The bill provides for up to a 100% property tax exemption for improvements made to flood-damaged property.  It also gives cities and counties additional resources to recover from the 2008 disasters and mitigate the next one.
