IOWA COMMUNITY CULTURAL GRANT

APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE

Des Moines, Iowa – State Representative Tyler Olson of Cedar Rapids said today that cultural grants are available for communities and organizations that create jobs while improving Iowa’s quality of life.

“I encourage cultural organizations in our community to apply for these state grants.  The grants will help create jobs in our community and enhance cultural and recreational opportunities across Iowa,” said Olson.

Iowa Community Cultural Grants are available for Iowa communities and organizations seeking funding for the 2010 fiscal year (July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010). The grants are given to organizations or communities that provide employment for Iowans while also enhancing the cultural, artistic and historical resources of Iowa. Projects can include but are not limited to museum exhibits, historical restoration and archaeology projects, folk life and other festivals, public art or ethic heritage projects and performing arts events and companies.

Guidelines and application forms for the grant are posted on the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs website, www.culturalaffairs.org. All applications must be submitted by the May 1, 2009.
