My family's thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the unprecedented natural disaster occurring in Cedar Rapids and across Iowa.  Nearly all my years have been spent in Cedar Rapids with the Cedar River and I never could have imagined the extent of the destruction.  I will never look at the river the same way again.

Since the event began I have been in contact and working with local, county, state and federal officials to make sure those responding have the resources necessary.  I will continue to do so in the coming days and months to make sure Iowa's communities have the resources to clean up and recover.  We will rebuild.

For those directly affected, please click on the Flood of 2008 tab above.  You will find information for individuals and businesses regarding cleanup procedures and applying for available federal and state assistance.  The Flood of 2008 tab also has information on what you can do to help folks recover and rebuild.

Thank you to all in the community who have pulled together and helped friends and neighbors.  Thanks also to the many folks outside the area that have contacted me to provide help.  We are in the process of determining the best way to channel that assistance and information will be posted here shortly.
